Mine: off the top of my head: Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath, CSLewis: The Problem of Pain (and later A Grief Observed), James Joyce’s Ulysses, and Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man; more recently Cormac McCarthy’s The Road.
