Dear E-News Friends, Maybe the best way to describe what happened at the Copenhagen Conference is to begin at the end. Some of you Creekers who used to go to rock concerts remember that if a concert went over the top, everybody lit their cigarette lighters and waved them back and forth over their heads as a sign of intense approval. In a similar fashion, the organizers of this conference hid candles under the seats of the attenders and when the final song was being sung a few people lit their candles which was enough prompting to get everybody searching and eventually lighting their candles and waving them enthusiastically while singing at the top of their lungs. It was quite a sight for the normally reserved and sophisticated Danes. The Conference that they were responding to was simply incredible. The music, drama and dance was done (and done beautifully) by Danes. The teaching sessions were listened to so attentively that from time to time I would stop the lecture to see if they were really listening that closely or if they had frozen in time! I guess when church attendance in your country is 1% and going down, you get real serious about concentrating when people you respect are there to help. Every single session seemed to be anointed by the Holy Spirit. But the last one will be long remembered. I had Joe Horness do a medley of 3 of his classic songs, showed our Bridge video, which opened the floodgates of emotion here because so few churches ever see anybody come to faith, and then did a short but sincere talk called “Jesus, the Ever-Present Friend.” If you will imagine 1400 candles glowing in a darkened auditorium, you will have a better picture in your mind of the powerful conclusion of that session than I could ever convey in words. How I wish each of you could have witnessed this scene with me.
I tried to sneak out a side door to be alone with God for a while-just to thank Him-but the crowd got to me before I could make my escape. I spent the next 20 minutes shaking hands with hundreds of pastors and church leaders who could not leave the auditorium without conveying their heart-felt appreciation for our coming
As we drove back to my hotel, I couldn’t help thinking.2 days.48 hours of our time.and such powerful results. What is God telling us these days about our responsibility to the world he loves and is desperately trying to reach?
Thanks for praying, friends. God is honoring each and every one of your prayers!
