A family had just bought and re-modeled a toy store. It was their grand opening day and the lady was really nervous about how it was going to turn out.
It ended up turning out well; all the displays looked good, and a lot of people showed up.
As the owner was standing there with her friend, people kept walking by telling her what a great job they did at remodeling it. Many people told her that they loved what she did with the place!
Then right after a couple people praised her, a grumpy old lady went by snorting that she liked it better the way it was before.
The owner’s friend then turned to her and commented “You know what? You’re going to get 5,000 great comments today. . . But that’s the one that you are going to remember.”
You will find her words to ring true time after time. Regardless of how many good things a person hears in a day, usually it will be the one or two bad things that they remember.
Keep this in mind next time you start to criticize or bring someone down. Understand that your one little comment can ruin another person’s entire day.
