Only Losers Win

So hard to keep in mind our “stuff” doesn’t matter so much…

(“Jesus said, ‘Do you have any idea how difficult it is for people who have it all to enter God’s kingdom?'” Luke 18:24 [The Message])

Only losers win in the end, with no jewels and trinkets, with no portfolios and property, no livestock, no cattle, no cadillacs, no liposuction.

Don’t throw a party for your new collection of lumber contracted on your lawn. Jesus had nowhere to lay His head.

Don’t threaten with your power or artillery in hoarse-voiced approval of ends unjustified by their means. Jesus would not live by the sword.

Don’t wave your bylaws in underlings’ faces, your legal squirming to escape grace’s undertones. Jesus had no fine-print exceptions.

Don’t cash your check at heaven’s door, the tellers there give no prizes. Jesus had no signature cards.

Don’t try to thread your camel through the Hope and Hard-earned needle. Jesus leads where only the tiny follow.

Only losers die wealthy and The winners die young.

Know-it-alls, folderols, have-it-alls, overalls, seen-it-alls, gives us pause

to hand it all over and learn the winning that losers know so well.

losing, mark p.
