Downwind

Down Wind 2/2/2002

I’m downwind from the breeze I stare up at the trees, I bend my head and freeze Hear the people and their pleas, I’m downwind I’m downwind, Got my head between my knees

Blessing the others, I forgot to bless The Name That bore the cruel cross That wore all our pain, That reached out, and broached the breach, I’m downwind I’m downwind, Let the spirit teach

One can quote scripture, juggle it with the best When asked where are the sheep? Don’t shrug and try to guess We are accountable for the assigned flock, I’m downwind I’m downwind, And the Lord is taking stock

There needs to be a healing I can feel the drift In you Lord there’s peace, the peace that can lift, A grace that is gifted A grace so richly blessed, I’m downwind I’m downwind, You invite me as your guest
