I see the homosexual debate is underway in this forum.

The apostle Paul warned against accepting falsely-so-called knowledge.

I suppose to the people who grew up in certain religious and philosophical schools in Greek, thought it seemed obvious that matter was evil and spirit is good. Unfortunately, these pagan ideas mixed with Christian ideas, producing certain Gnostic views.

I suppose the Platonists thought it was obvious that if there were cows out there there must be some ‘ideal cow’ out there somewhere. (Pardon my hacking up philosophy like this.)

In Paul’s day, some of these philosophers were regarded as experts. They probably wore their philosophers robes and were respected by certain intellectuals.

Skip ahead about 1800 years. Sigmund Freud was considered to be an expert in psychology. I’ve read that he prescribed cocaine and seemed to think that men made choices primarily based on sex. Various other schools of psychology developed. As time progressed, earlier views of psychology are abandoned for newer ones. The same happens in other fields. One method of education is abandoned for a newer one. Freud may be considered the father of modern psychology, but most psychologists don’t really believe all of Freud’s theories. Ten years ago, all of man’s ills were supposedly caused by low self-esteem. On the trashy TV talk-show in the US, some sassy woman could stand up during audience feedback and say, ‘The reason you are with that boy is you got low self esteem. Leave him, girl.’ Or, ‘The reason you’ve got cancer is because you’ve got low self-esteem.’ That was the root of all problems.

Philosophies and fads come and go. Cultures have their own experts. A lot of expert ideas are really cooky. We realize some of the Greek philosophers ideas were off the mark, but our own cultural equivilents in modern times are respected as experts. Do psychologists really understand the human psyche? Maybe they are making progress, but I don’t think they’ve really figured it out, yet. And new theories will continue to develop.

In the ’50’s, homosexuals were considered to be mentally ill. Now they aren’t. Is there any reason to think that the current psychologists are any more on track? These are just fads that come and go.

A Christians beliefs are not _supposed_ to be based on whatever the current philosophical or psychological fad is. We are, of course, effected by our culture, and should be relavent in our own culture, but we shouldn’t get our moral value system from our own culture. Shoudl the German Christians have accepted Hitler’s ungodly views?

Christians have inspired writings to look to for moral guidance. We also ahve the Holy Spirit to lead and to guide us. God’s idea of morality is very different from the world’s.

I’ve seen bits and pieces of the debate going on here. I see phrases like ‘their sexuality.’ That people ‘born gay’ aren’t supposed to be able to live out ‘their sexuality.’ Well, I have never seen a baby ‘born gay.’ Babies are born as babies. They aren’t born having sex or looking lustfully at people. They aren’t sexually developed.

The current homosexual agenda says that ‘sexuality’ or ‘orientation’ is in-born. That is supposedly supposed to make it okay to engage in same-sex relationships.

If a homosexual is not a Christian and doesn’t believe in God, I can understand why he would think that way. But if he claims to be a Christian, he is just accepting the current ‘wind of doctrine’ that the world has to offer. 50 years ago, the wind of doctrine would be that he is mentally ill. Homosexuality is still the same thing today as it was 50 years ago. What has changed is how the so called ‘experts’ in society have labeled it. homosexuals have put out a lot of propaganda, lobbied, gotten visible celebrities with messed up personal lives to support their cause, and changed public opinion. What the ‘experts’ say doesn’t matter. The ‘so-called knowledge’ that gays are just ‘born that way’ doesn’t have anything to do with the Christian belief system, and has no bearing on Christian doctrine.

What if someone is born with a propensity toward being tempted to have homosex? What if he or she lusts after someone of the same sex at an early age, does that make homosex moral? No, of course not. Kdis lie at a young age. Some kids steal at a young age. They rebell against their parents in small ways from the time they are little. Little children can sin. They can say things to hurt someone else.

Why do children steal? Because the WANT TO. Why do they lie? Because they want to. Why do they want to? Well, if they wanted to justify themselves, they could try to say that God made them that way. They could say that they were born with the desire to do such things.

The Bible teaches that through Adam, sin came into the world. The fact that some people have had a tendency to want to do something forbidden by God does not make it okay.

‘Thou shalt not kill’ it says in the Bible.

What if the murderer says, ‘But I want to kill. Therefore, it must be okay for me to kill. Otherwise I would not have the desire?’ Is this line of reasoning valid? Of course not.

Whether the desire to have homosex is inborn or not does not make homosex moral. Plenty of non-homosexual young men have a desire to have sex with many women outside of marriage. Some men look with lust on other men’s wives. If these men want to have heterosexual sex, does that make it okay? No. Sex is for marriage. Marriage is between male and female human beings. Not between men and men. Not between a man and a tree. Not between a goat and a human being. Marriage is between people of opposite sexes, according to what we see in the Bible.

If a homosexual says that he is justified because he has been that way from the time he was a child, he is not justified. We know that children can desire to sin. This is obvious. The answer is not in making excuses. The answer is repentance.

God’s wrath is against sinners, including homosexuals. Sinners deserve to be punished. They stand guilty before a holy God, and don’t deserve to be in His presence.

Fortunately, Jesus died for our sins. But we must repetn and put our faith in Him.

In the future, Christ will turn away workers of iniquity, who say to Him, ‘Lord, Lord.’

Christ came to save His people from their sins, as the scripture says, not to save them in their sins.

So if you want your sin, and if you want to make up your own moral value system, apart from what Christ taught and from the revelation of God in the Torah, the prophets, and the writings of the apostles, there are plenty of other ecclectic religions out there where you can wait around in until you are ready to be reconciled to God and repent.

But if you are going to teach the little ones to sin, for example, encouraging people to engage in homosexual relations while calling themselves a Christian, then it would be better for you that a millstone be tied around your neck and that you be thrown into the depths of the sea.

The answer is to repent. If you have not repented, you stand condemned before a holy God, who is rightfully angry with you for your sin
