(India)–We begin today in India where a hate campaign against Christians has started in the state of Kerala. Kerala has been a safe haven for Christians. But now, Hindus are blaming Christians for the millions of low caste Hindus who are revolting against Hinduism. Bibles For the World’s[1] Rochunga Pudaite. “And, as a result of that nearly 600-million are now thinking of converting to one religion or another. And, that is bringing a tremendous threat to the Hindu population, particularly to those who have been in the rule of that land.” Bibles For the World wants to send Bibles to the 40-million telephone subscribers in India. He’s encouraging each churches in the United States to send 100 Bibles at a cost of 300-dollars. “We thought if we could provide to everyone a copy of the Bible it would calm the situation there. It’s interesting that so many upper caste Hindus, who have telephones, are writing to us saying that they have never known Jesus Christ the way that they’re reading about Him in this book.”

(India)–Next, published news reports show Gujarat police has again started a survey of Christian localities. Authorities asked about source of funds, origin, activities and what they were buying. Believers are dismayed by the survey’s continuation, because the reports are usually a prelude to focused violence against them. As a result, the survey creates tensions for those in evangelistic work. Please pray for the workers’ safety and for the wisdom of church leaders in the days ahead.

(India)–As the violence escalates in India, BCM International[2] is holding a special missions conference in Hyderabad. BCM’s John Noel say the conference is being used to train more than 400 nationals. Noel is asking people to pray for the conference. “They experience certainly some tension there. In other states throughout India there is a heightened extremist pressure. Some of our smaller churches have been burned. And, some of our pastors have either (been) injured or threatened.” Meanwhile, BCM is trying to raise 25-thousand dollars for their Ebenezer Conference Center in Hyderabad. Noel explains the need. “As the church grows tremendously especially in that part of the world then discipleship becomes a real need. And so, we’re targeting this particular facility as one which will really train our new missionaries and disciple the new Christians.”

(International)–Meanwhile, orphanages around the world work on shoestring budgets, leaving little room for clothes and shoes. Buckner Orphan Care International’s[3] . [4]

(Africa)–And finally, the Evangelical Free Church of America[5] is asking people to help sponsor a pastor or church leader in Africa. It’s called the ‘Adopt-A-Leader’ program. EFCA officials say donations provide for the education of lay and pastoral leaders in Rwanda, Sudan and Congo. These leaders are selected by the local church. It costs approximately 16-hundred dollars a year to send a leader to theological training, which ultimately helps spread the Gospel. Pray that many in the west will help financially.
