Threats against Americans in Nepal is keeping a team from traveling there. Nepal (MNN) — We start our newscast today with a warning from the Hindu kingdom of Nepal. Americans are at risk, according to World Help[1] , a ministry that helps Nepali believers with church planting and evangelism. World Help’s Noel Yeatts outlines the problem. “We’ve recently heard from several of our partners in Nepal that it is not safe for Americans to be there. In fact, it’s not safe for our partners to be seen with Americans. We had a trip scheduled for November and we’ve had to cancel that in light of these recent events.” Maoist Terrorists are apparently responsible for the threats and Yeatts says they’ve have even gone one step further. “There (were) five Nepali pastors kidnapped and held prisoner, specifically because of their connection to Christian ministries in the United States. They were released, which is a miracle. Our partners tell us that this is very rare. African nations to get Bible Study material Africa (MNN) Five Christian ministries are supplying the spiritually hungry in Africa with Bible study material. Ken Sharp of Bible Pathway Ministries says they have written and published material aimed at mobilizing and strengthening the Christians in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria. “The church in these target nations is struggling greatly against unorthodox teaching, false doctrines and traces of the occult and new age teachings. And this maerial will help the church to draw many others into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.” Sharp says the study packets that Operation Mobilization is shipping, will impact many lives as it gets passed around. ” What they’ll do when they get these is they will share them with between eight and twelve families so this particular shipment alone of these three large containers will easily minister to around 300,000 persons or more in these four countries.” Full Story: http://mnn.gospelcom.net/article/5223

Urbana ’03 will focus on Muslim evangelism — get ready. USA (MNN) — More than 20-thousand young people will be encouraged to ‘step out of the box’ this year at Urban ’03, sponsored by Intervarsity Christian Fellowship[3] . Urbana’s Director Jim Tebbe says world tragedies are forcing students to think about their purpose in life and many want to serve Christ. Tebbe says they will encourage that. “The approach has been to encourage students to take incremental steps towards mission. If you’ve not taken a short-term missions trip, take a short-term missions trip. And, then, you go for something longer and then perhaps into career ministries. And, it seems most people who go into career ministries overseas have done multiple short-term trips.” Tebbe says Urbana ’03, which begins December 28th, will also focus on Islam. “I’m a firm believer that we’re not able to influence people we don’t like. And, so that’s one of the things we’ll really be addressing, encouraging students to reach out to those who are Muslims and to develop a more compassionate attitude rather than an adversarial one.” Urbana is filling fast. Christian radio ministry in Nigeria expands. Nigeria (MNN)–Next, a radio partnership means Christian broadcasts in all three of Nigeria’s major languages are available. Broadcasts in Hausa and Yoruba were launched at the beginning of this month, adding to existing broadcasts in Igbo. HCJB World Radio[4] , In Touch Ministries, the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA) and local radio partners believe this project is critical. A Christian school celebrates an anniversary in Honduras. Honduras (MNN)–And, the Association of Christian Schools International[5] reports their school in Honduras celebrates five years this year. The school, located in Tegucigalpa, sponsors three other schools, two of which are in refugee areas, the result of Hurricane Mitch. Please pray that God continues to send qualified teachers.
