An International call to prayer will be broadcast in the United States. USA (MNN) — We begin today in the United States where a nation-wide church service will call attention to the suffering church around the world. The International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church is November 9th. This year’s theme is ‘One Faith, One God, One Family.” Luis Bush, the man who coined the phrase ’10/40 Window’ will be the keynote speaker. “I think it’s going to be an event that seeks to put the reality of Biblical truth on the table and then looking at the challenge and opportunity to respond to that reality at a time of, yes, great persecution around the world.” Open Doors with Brother Andrew[1] is just one organization cosponsoring the event. OD President Carl Moeller. “We’re encouraging churches around America to become active in their support of the suffering church. We do stand together in unity with them. Prayer is the most important action we can take, but it’s not the only action.” Christians can financially support underground evangelistic outreaches through Open Doors and other groups. Anti-globalization protests leave Bolivian Christians in difficulty. Bolivia (MNN)–Meanwhile, despite violence and political unrest in Bolivia, aid groups are still working to get relief to desperate nationals. World Vision’s[2] Andres Vera says they are supplying blankets, food and medicine to hundreds of people, many children, who were trapped because of the recent violence. Tensions remain high as there are promises of more protests if things don’t change quickly. A radio ministry helps its listeners become more than conquerors in South Africa. South Africa (MNN)–Radio ministry in South Africa proves to be a challenge at times when crisis grips the country. The AIDS problem is a case in point. In a place where Christian radio stations are not allowed, Trans World Radio[3] found a way. TWR’s Brent Bartlett says community radio stations are required to fulfill a religious content quota. “We are now looking at providing programs in strategic areas which are Biblically-based, but also challenging and meeting the needs of the people in the street in these communities where television is not that accessible and where poverty is very high.” Bartlett says TWR’s “Project Mofenyi” (moh-FAY-nee) takes AIDS awareness forward. “Providing some way of taking people from a position of awareness to things like home-based care, to things like dealing with poverty, bringing in a Biblical perspective to show people how to prevent themselves from contracting HIV/AIDS, while preaching the Gospel and sharing the Good News.” Full Story: http://mnn.gospelcom.net/article/5274

“Boxes of Love” touches lives of inner city kids USA (MNN)–As the holidays approach, those people blessed with enough food are asked to consider sharing with the hungry inner city children who may go without. “Here’s Life Inner City”[4] is again providing holiday meals to needy families with their “Boxes of Love” program. The boxes contain food for the family as well as Christian literature. As God’s love is shown by meeting physical needs it also sets the stage for sharing the Gospel message. Adoption opens doors for ministry in China. China (MNN)–And, a family working in China recently adopted a little girl through Adoption Associates[5] , a Christian agency. Due to their vocation in China, this couple asked to have their names changed for security reasons. We spoke to the husband, whom we’ll call ‘Mark’. He explains how their adoption opened doors for the hope of the Gospel. “The idea of adoption is pretty foreign to most Chinese people because family and bloodline is so important that most people don’t understand why anybody would take into their family, as a member of their family, somebody who wasn’t of their own bloodline.” ‘Mark’ says while theirs wasn’t an overtly evangelistic experience, it did allow them a chance to draw an evangelistic comparison for those asking questions. “In many instances, people seem to be very touched by that. It’s a good introduction and comparison to the heart of God, and adopting us as His children and bringing us into the kingdom.” Full Story: http://mnn.gospelcom.net/article/5275
