Persecution against Christians in India is bringing out the best in believers India (MNN) — We begin today in India where anti-conversion legislation and other persecution against Christians is a concern to many believers. But, Doctor Bobby Gupta with HBI Global Partners[1] says when persecution comes Christians are at their best. Gupta explains. “We’re seeing the church respond to persecution (by saying), ‘if they’re getting on our case we need to give our lives even more to Jesus Christ so that God can do greater things.’ Because, unlike any other time in the history of missions in India, people are more responsive to the Gospel, more churches are being planted, young people are giving their lives and wanting to do more for the Lord.” HBI is training nationals through their Bible institute. Gupta says one need is becoming more evident. “The number one need is for us to decentralize. We’ve begun a five year process. We’ve already started four training centers. Pending legislation could help ministry in the U-S. USA (MNN) — Meanwhile, lawmakers in the United States are considering legislation that will renew it’s commitment to religious liberty. Bills on preserving religious liberties and the Ten Commandments have been introduced in the house and senate. American Missionary Fellowship[3] is supporting these measures. AMF’s Ed Henderson there’s definitely a need for this. “I hate to say it this way, but our religious freedom in America is eroding through the judicial system and just to safeguard our ability to freely share with people the Gospel of Jesus Christ is at stake.” Henderson says AMF is getting ready to start learning communities, an effort to establish Bible studies in key areas of the country. “Bible study. That’s what people need. Everybody needs Bible study. That’s what changes lives.” Passage of this legislation could protect holding Bibles studies in public places. A Scripture translation partnership in the Democratic Republic of Congo is still in the early stages. Congo–Kinshasa (MNN)–Recent peace-making progress in the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo is consistently marred by violence and ethnic tensions. The Seed Company’s[5] , are ‘works in progress’. Early field testing results on new translations have been slow in coming. “Our communication with them has been almost non-existent–it’s just a very poor communication infrastructure there in DRC because of all the unrest that’s gone on. So, we’re really anxious to get back in there and meet with them again. Evangelism grows in the Dominican Republic Dominican Republic (MNN)–Next, near the one year anniversary of a Walk Thru The Bible[7] program launch in the Dominican Republic, there is much to celebrate. WTTB’s vision caught on after training more than 250 teachers, schooling them on how to teach through live seminars and the Prayer of Jabez. Those teachers have since fanned out across the island to spread the word of God, conduct live seminars, share videos, and make disciples in four neighboring cities. Panama’s church gets a glimpse of unity. Panama (MNN)–And, New Tribes Mission[8] celebrates a unity of the church in Panama. Thirty tribal church leaders from four different tribes overcame language and cultural barriers to pray and worship together at the second annual Shepherd’s Conference last week. Each tribal leader brought devotionals, church reports and messages to challenge and encourage.
