Bibles are needed in China as persecution against Christians continue. China (MNN) — China headlines today’s news as ldpersecution against underground believers continues. World Help wants to assist Christians who don’t believe they can worship freely as a registered congregation. Wold Help’s[1] Eric Vess says everything you hear about oppression in China is true. “You can have provinces where Christians operate openly with the knowledge of the Government, they simply ignore them. You have other places in China where Christians are being arrested, beaten and even killed and buildings are being burned down by authorities. This is all happening all at the same time.” World Help is raising money to provide one-million desperately needed Bibles for the church, estimated at 60 to 100 million. “Every year, legally, one to two million Bibles are printed in China. And, millions more are sent in. All of this is a drop in the bucket if you consider the fact that there are only 20 to 30 million Bibles at the most in the entire country.” World Help is just 75-thousand short of their goal. An underground church advocate in China is freed. China (MNN) — Meanwhile, an advocate of the house church movement in China has been released from prison. Xiao Bi-guang was released unexpectedly by authorities after all the publicity the case has received. He’s now back with his wife and four-year-old son. According to Voice of the Martyrs[2] Todd Nettleton this is proof that Christians around the world can make a difference with their prayers and phone calls to the Chinese Embassy. A film ministry is undaunted by shadows of violence in India. India (MNN)–Anti-conversion laws and surveys on Christian activity and finances add to a growing sense that time may be growing short for unrestricted ministry. Dayspring International’s[3] John Gilman addresses this. Teams minister through ‘Dayasaga’, an all-Indian acted film on the life of Christ. He says in spite of the anti-conversion laws passing throughout India, “Our teams are able to show this film freely. It is entertaining, educational, informative, and it is action-packed. Oftentimes, our teams will actually setup the equipment in front of the Hindu temple because the local priest there will cooperate and say, ‘yes, please come and use the electrical outlet.'” Gilman says because the film is a community event, resistance to the Gospel is down. That leads to response, and a future for the church. “So, discipleship becomes a component of our ministry that is key and fundamental. Haiti (MNN) — ) Next, a deal with the devil is about to end for Haitians and Christians are ready to mobilize and share the gospel. Rev. Charles Elkjer with OMS, the parent organization of Men For Missions[4] , says long ago Haitians were at war with France. “And so they prayed to Satan and that if he helped them get deliverance from French occupation, why they would dedicate the country to Satan for 200 years. Well that 200 years is up at the end of the month.” OMS is asking Christians to pray that Haiti would renounce evil, which has worked before. before. “Interestingly just a few years ago they had scheduled this re-dedication and all the believers in Haiti and others in this country prayed and fasted that it would not happen. And sure enough on the day of the celebration there was a terrible storm and it didn’t happen. Food for the Hungry founder dies INTL. (MNN) — And finally, an advocate for the needy is now with the Lord he served for so long, and his legacy to share the love of Christ continues. The founder of Food for the Hungry[5] , Doctor Larry Ward died October 25th at the age of 78 after a long illness. Ward served as Food for the Hungry’s president until 1984. He’s remembered as a compassionate person who shared Christ every chance he got. FHI now has programs in 37 countries. He’s survived by his wife and four grown children.
