Medical outreach in Iraq may be key to permanent missions outreach. Iraq (MNN) — Iraq headlines today’s news as top U-S military officials vow to use any weapon at their disposal against insurgents killing American soldiers. While Americans are targets Christians in the United States are vowing to help. “Doc” with the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism, or ABWE[1] , says they’re doing just that. “We’ve targeted medical aid as a way to establish a helping presence in Iraq. Long term we hope to establish a missionary presence there. Right now we see an open door and obviously there are many needs.” “Doc” just returned from his second trip to Iraq. He says while a few Iraqis want Americans out of the country, many have another view. “The Americans have stayed. They’re doing a lot of the things they said they would do and I think there’s some trust that’s starting to be established. The church stands with a pillaged Liberia. Liberia (MNN)–Next, Liberia’s rebel-held east is in nearly complete desolation. Most of the residents fled as the rebels advanced, looting and killing, creating thousands of displaced homeless. However, the Evangelical Church Union of Liberia, in partnership with SIM[2] , is ministering by providing medical care, food, resettlement kits, building materials and other necessities. Boot camp starts Friday in Mozambique. Mozambique (MNN)–On Friday, Mozambique becomes the next site for a youth ministry boot camp launch. Teen Missions International’s[3] Rob Lowen explains the 10-day camp takes place in primitive living conditions, but there’s more to the camp than physical training. “The end goal is obviously evangelism. The way Teen Missions works is we will run a boot camp in an area for a few years, with the goal of eventually purchasing property and setting up a Bible School where we can train the young people to be missionaries in their own country.” Lowen says it’s a taste of a summer missions program with local youth. Following boot camp, “Then there’ll be approximately two weeks of field time where each team will go out and either build a church or we’re having a backpack film team which will travel from village to village sharing the JESUS film and some of the culturally relevant evangelistic films that Teen Missions has made.” Full Story: http://mnn.gospelcom.net/article/5339

Disabled youth are turning to Christ. USA (MNN) — Meanwhile, Young Life is reaching out to young people with physical and mental disabilities around the world. It’s a program called “Capernium Ministries” and it’s run by Nick Palermo. Palermo says Young Life is one of just a few organizations doing this work. But, the question is, are these young people responding? “They’re incredibly responsive. Since we’ve been here probably 70 percent of our kids or 80-percent of our kids give their lives to Christ. They’re the poor in spirit that are saying that we want to receive. They’re so vacant in terms of having social opportunities. So, when we do a Young Life Club that is their one social outing in their week all year long.” Palermo says “Capernium Ministries” is working in 32 cities. He says they have one main prayer. “Our goal is to reach every disabled kid in the world. So, one of the great prayers is that God will just tap the shoulders of people around the world to hear the cries of disabled kids and say, ‘I’m there. I want to be a part of this. Ministry in Thailand gets healthier. Thailand (MNN)–And, the Far East Broadcasting Company’s[5] ministry to the Thai people grows. Team members say the broadcast ministry to the Mon people near the border of Thailand/Myanmar is developing. They also report that the Thailand Bible correspondence program continues gaining participants. Pray that the Buddhists who study the Bible teaching material will eventually respond to Christ.
