Pastors from closed country receive pastoral training. Middle East (MNN) — We begin today in the Muslim world as an American Evangelist is calling for prayer for an incredible outreach potential. Evangelist Sammy Tippit[1] is in the Middle East holding a pastor’s conference for pastors from a country very closed to the Gospel. Tippit says this training is being video taped. “We’re trying to produce some resources that can be brought back into the country. We’ve made DVD’s, we’ve made CD’s so that they can go back and this can be multiplied because the great, great need is to raise up a new generation who can handle all of the people who are coming to Christ.” Tippit says they’ve also secured time on cable television to share the Gospel in the region next year. “(We’ll be broadcasting) as far east as India (and) as far West as Iran. The time is now for the Book of Hope. West Africa (MNN)–Next, church leaders and West African government leaders are asking for the Book of Hope.[3] Islamic countries are aggressively reaching out in West Africa, building schools and offering aid. The activity has concerned ministers of education who say unless something is done to counteract Muslim teaching, Islam could become the dominant force in the region. Security issues in parts of the 10/40 window cause concern. International (MNN)–Peace in the European and Middle Eastern part of the 10/40 window seems far off. In addition, the backlash of hostilities targeting the West and its associations are cause for concern. Due to growing security threats, we changed the name of this OC International[4] worker to ‘Dave’. He notices: “At a personal level, person to person, there is a great reception, a great warmth, for listening to the Christian message. At the official level, governmental level or a bureaucratic level, that’s where there is more difficulty.” ‘Dave’ focuses on leadership development and helping indigenous ministries be more effective in this high-risk area. This also poses one of their greatest security challenges. “The issues need to be treated with caution. A church-support agency looks to Moldova. Moldova (MNN)–Elsewhere, the price of bread in Moldova rose sharply this week, increasing by 50-to-60-percent. Recent reports indicated that the small country is now the poorest country in Europe. FARMS'[5] Joseph Richter says such trouble proves to be both an open mission and an obstacle. “I think one of the things that has to be overcome by prayer is the defeatism that Communism has left upon the country. That somewhat permeates the church.” Richter explains they’re looking at the area for a new project launch. He says their interest is not only because of the economics, but also because the church is vibrant with enthusiastic young people. “I would ask that Christians pray that some effective micro-credit loan programs could begin in Moldova. Mission Network News is now available in Romania. Romania (MNN) — And finally, motivating Christians to get involved in missions is the goal of Mission Network News. Up until now, it’s been done only in English, but now it’s available in Romanian. MNN’s Executive Director Greg Yoder says Little Samaritan Mission[6] is airing the broadcast in Romania and Moldova and they’re committed to translating it daily.
