New leadership in the Republic of Georgia could help ministry. Republic of Georgia (MNN) — We begin today in the Republic of Georgia where protests have ushered in a new government. A “velvet revaluation” forced the resignation of President Edward Shevardnadze, allowing Nina Burdzhanadze (boord-yu-NAHD-zah) to take power. Elections are planned within 45 days. Bob Hoskins with Book of Hope[1] says their Georgia work hasn’t been easy. “There have been some radical elements in Georgia with in the Orthodox that have strongly opposed us. And, the appeals we’ve made to the government to help us in that situation have gone unanswered. So, perhaps the new government will be more sympathetic to what we would call a more democratic approach.” 100-thousand copies of the Book of Hope have been distributed, with 100-thousand more on the way. Hoskins still has another concern. “When you’ve got these various factions there’s always a possibility of civil war, which would make it very difficult for us. Haitian goverment puts the kabash on an evangelical demonstration Haiti (MNN)–Meanwhile, at a time when Haiti is preparing to acknowledge its bicentennial with voodoo, believers are trying to counter with prayer and evangelism. However, Assist News reports the Haitian government recently withdrew its permission for a major Christian event, November 18th. Evangelicals had planned to hold hands and pray across the country. Christian leaders have now laid out extensive plans to call the Haitian nation back to God and dedicate the country to Christ on January 1rst. Full Story: http://mnn.gospelcom.net/article/5386

The spiritual harvest in Malawi ripens. Malawi (MNN)–Malawi’s church is growing, filled with a warm people and a heart for God. Those elements, combined with Hope Builders International[3] , set the scene for a future vibrancy. Hope Builders’ Johan Gous (hohs) says their focus is on saturation church planting, based on the “ripple” effect, starting with one trained evangelist at the hub. “He or she is taken into a position where we sustain them we don’t pay them a salary, as such, but we help them with a cash portion of their income, in such away that they are released to do spiritual work on a full-time basis.” Hope Builders is working in conjunction with 31 other congregations in Malawi. Gous says the program has been a great success. “In one week, the personal evangelism, together with the JESUS Film outreaches brought 25-thosuand people into a position where they could go to church they could be served by a local church within walking distance.” Full Story: http://mnn.gospelcom.net/article/5384

Christian radio ministry to young people meets a growing need. International (MNN)–Next, statistics indicate the generation of youth faces challenges they are ill-equipped to confront. Trans World Radio’s[4] fast-paced youth program, ‘The Reality Zone’ moves to meet those needs. TWR’s David McCreary explains the program’s content transcends borders, airing on more than 124 outlets worldwide. “The issue-oriented format, it deals with topics such as sexuality, peer pressure, suicide, drug addiction, you name it, and it’s just really engaging, hosted by young people. It’s for young people by young people.” More than just another issue show, though, McCreary says this one takes the issues and looks at them through a biblical perspective, driving the listeners to the Gospel. “We get letters from listeners, we get phone calls, we get emails from young people saying, ‘This is what I’m struggling with: I’m depressed, I have no hope, is God real?’ So, that’s what we offer them is real solutions to real problems.” Full Story: http://mnn.gospelcom.net/article/5385 [5]

A “real-life film teaches children about Christ. And finally, after years of cartoons, claymation and computerization, children are now learning about Christ through a “real-life”, non animated movie. The Story of Jesus for Children is now being produced by the Jesus Film Project[6] and is being released in English and Spanish in DVD. It’s designed for entertainment or instructional use in homes, schools, and churches.
