Police close down a church in Hyderabad, India. India (MNN)–Topping the news, police in Hyderabad, India have effectively closed down a church. Grace Ministries International’s[1] Sam Vinton says as of November 10th, the believers are in need of a place for their ministries and worship services. Complaints from Hindus who didn’t want a Christian group meeting in their neighborhood led to the action. “The police have given eviction orders to our church. They have not been able to find any place to rent because, again, the owners are Hindu or they ask for exorbitant prices. The Christians are pretty shaken up. This is the first time that they’ve ever had any kind of thing like this happen to them. They can sense a real persecution against Christians.” Vinton says in spite of the lack of a meeting place, their teams reported that ten Hindus became believers this month. It’s reassuring to the church that ministry continues. “The Lord keeps working in spite of this. It’s sort of difficult to really sort all this out. Two organizations partner together to reach Africa and Asia. USA (MNN) — Next, while HIV/AIDS is spreading across Africa and Asia, a new partnership has been formed to help provide hope. International Bible Society[2] signed a distribution agreement that allows the Bible League to use IBS Scripture translations in its ministries in these regions. President of the Bible League Joseph Owen says the agreement will mean more Bible-less people in Africa and India will receive God’s Word. Christians move to clear the way for both the Gospel and adoption. USA (MNN)–You can call it an ‘advocacy’ that developed into a partnership with a vision. Adoption Associates[4] is excited about their project with a new agency, Christian Advocates for Adoption, or CAFA. CAFA director, Al Keenan explains theirs is a ministry that supports the Gospel. However, there are a few perception challenges they’ve had to overcome. “Many people are coming to realize that adoption is not an odd thing, it’s not a strange thing, in fact the New Testament doctrine of adoption states that as Christians, we’ve actually been adopted into the family of God.” As for the nuts-and-bolts of how they help Christian adoptive groups like Adoption Associates, Keenan says: “When they have people come to them, and funds are a barrier, we want to help those couples that are committed to adoption, find the funding to do that. Volunteers are needed to help head up Finishers Forums in the U-S. USA (MNN) — Meanwhile, mission organizations are face to face with the need for more people. Nelson Malwitz with the Finishers Project[5] says they exists to promote these needs and encourage adults to consider full time missionary service. Malwitz says Christ, at the end of His ministry, told Christians to go and make disciples of all the nations. “Our generations, both the Gen X generation and the Boomer generation and even above, are really well equipped to be engaged in the enterprise to make disciples of all nations. The Finishers Project is the help people make those connections with over 80 organizations that would really rather have more people than money.” Malwitz says leaders are needed to lead meetings called, Finishers Forums to recruit more workers. “We have three or four on the drawing board. We have one in Seattle, we have one for Columbus, Ohio and then, one in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. A turnaround radio ministry in Panama celebrates a milestone. Panama (MNN)–And, HCJB[6] reports the November 8th dedication of a new studio complex at Radio Station HOXO, in Panama City, Panama. The station, an HCJB partner ministry, culminated over a decade of change and growth in Panama. The dedication event demonstrated how God can revitalize a ministry that most had left for dead 11 years earlier.
