Thanksgiving the platform for evangelism in the U-S. USA (MNN) — Topping today’s news, as the United State celebrates its Thanksgiving Holiday today, ministries are using it to reach out and help families. Those families are now turning around and helping others. Mel Trotter Ministries in Grand Rapids, Michigan is serving thousands with a “Great Thanksgiving Day Banquet.” Tanisha McClyndn is a resident at Mel Trotter who’s using her gifts to help others. “I feel that it’s a gift for me to come and help others that’s in need today. I thank God that I’m able to come down and help today.” Volunteer Doug Wood says while they’re glad to help meet a physical need, it’s more important to supply spiritual bread. “As great as this free gift of the turkey and food is, there’s a greater free gift that we’re telling people about and that’s about the love of Christ and that He died for their sins and there’s a savior.” The ministry has carried out the Thanksgiving tradition for years, serving a complete holiday meal for families suffering hard times as well as homeless men and women. An American Seminary meets needs in Asia Singapore (MNN) — Meanwhile, Grand Rapids Theological Seminary, of Cornerstone University is providing education to believers in Asia. Doctor Jim Grier just returned from the region where he was able to provide needed education to Christian leaders there. Grier says Christian ethics was his focus. “In teaching a course on ethics most of the area of interest focuses on the moral point of contact for the Gospel. We have made the point of contact for the Gospel so often cognitive and not moral. So we spent a great deal of time talking about the impact of that in evangelism. The Lord is doing a very effective work in bringing people to faith in both the Chinese and the Tamil India Community.” The Grand Rapids Theological Seminary has an extension program throughout Asia including Singapore, Philippines, Myanmar, Hong Kong and Thailand. A broadcasting project for Asia could open doors. Asia (MNN)–Even as reports of persecution against believers continue to surface throughout India and China, a Christian radio ministry is looking at the potential. With that in mind, HCJB World Radio’s[1] Ron Cline says their focus this year could open a lot of doors for the hope of the Gospel. “Probably the most important thing we’re doing in the last year has been the development of the Asia-Pacific region. Trans World Radio and Far East Broadcasting Company has been there for years, but you’re talking about three-point-five billion people, and lots of languages and limited transmitter space.” Cline explains that the excitement is mounting as ministry moves forward. “We managed to get permission from the Australian government to put a transmitter in Australia beaming into India, and soon, one will beam into China. Snakes help point villagers to Christ India (MNN) — Meanwhile, a poisonous snake in India was the tool used to show Christ’s power in India. Gospel for Asia[2] reports angry villagers were determined to stop a baptism with yelling and other mocking as they line the banks of the river. But, then the villagers fell silent as the noticed a poisonous snake. But, the pastor and the nine Christians being baptized didn’t see the snake approaching. Volunteers needed for prison inmate outreach USA (MNN) — And finally, a ministry that’s reaching out to prison inmates is in great need of people to help in discipleship ministry. Crossroad Bible Institute[3] says these people are known as ‘Tier 2’ instructors. Prisoners study God’s word with a ‘pen-pal’ personal mentor after graduating from ‘Tier 1’ studies. Crossroad says this is a great way to extend your impact for the Kingdom as many of these inmates are sharing what they’re learning with other inmates.
