Muslims seem jealous of Christians in Kazakhstan Kazakhstan (MNN) — We begin today in Kazakhstan where the message of the Gospel is being met with some resistance. Bible Mission International’s[1] Mark Remschisel says Christians were able to share Christ with Muslims, who were searching for god during Ramada, Islam’s holiest month. “It caused a little bit of anxiety on the part of some of the Muslim leaders. Some of our teams were detained. Also, two women were invited to go into the school district. Those young ladies are now being faced with a fine and they’re trying to process some other legal proceedings again them.” Remschisel says Muslim leaders seem to be jealous of what Christians are doing there. “The local believers are having a powerful impact in these communities and that’s not true of Islam. The people watch believers come in and do reconstruction and see cows and pigs and chickens being given. It sparks a question in their mind.” And, those questions are opening doors to sharing Christ. Seven native missionaries flee for their lives in eastern India. India (MNN)–Next, Gospel For Asia[2] reports that seven of their native workers in eastern India have fled for their lives. One church leader’s evangelistic ministry caught the attention of those opposed to Christianity. An angry mob of about 200 gathered to protest the work of the church. The seven fled on foot to a Christian shelter in the jungle. Back in their home community, the anti-Christian mob burned 5,000 New Testaments and ransacked a neighboring church, breaking the windows and harassing the Christians. Church leadership in India sees a renewal of purpose. India (MNN)– Christian Aid Mission[3] reports success from a recent church convention. More than 35,000 people took part in the training meetings held by a church-planting ministry in northwestern India’s Rajasthan state. At its conclusion, participants came away with a new enthusiasm and vigor to take the Gospel to the towns and villages of northern India. 34 Bible college students also graduated, and 103 new believers answered the call to be baptized. Oral tradition becomes a Bible teaching method in Peru. Peru (MNN)–Meanwhile, oral tradition survives written text when it comes to teaching and history. Using that theory, The Seed Company’s[4] Asheninka project in Peru has moved into a process called “Chronological Bible Storying”. The Seed Company’s Parke Brown explains. “We’ve been translating 65 stories from the Bible into their language, oral stories that can be shared around the community, in sort of a traditional story-telling format that will present the Gospel of Christ.” Already the church is growing in part due to these efforts and the hope is that through partnerships this same method will open more doors. Brown, again: “The goal here is that we can get the Gospel to these people quicker than trying to translate the entire New Testament right away. That’s a process that takes a lot of time and so even though we hope to have that done in a set number of years, that’s still a number of years that people won’t have key Bible stories in front of them.” Full Story: http://mnn.gospelcom.net/article/5423

China’s church unity confronts a new threat. China (MNN)–And, amidst conflicting reports on the Chinese government’s harassment of believers, the church appeared to stand firm. A closer look revealed a sometime divisiveness between believers. Yet, China Partner’s[5] Erik Burklin senses a growing unity of the house church movement and the registered church. “Both sides are not only willing to talk to each other but to also start fellowshipping with each other. There’s many house church Christians who attend on the weekends, a registered church and vice versa, people who attend a registered church on the weekends, during the week, will go to a house church for further Bible study.” Burklin says in fact, there is a different subtle threat creeping into the church. “I think what happens within the church and what happens from the government is not so much detrimental as is the growth of materialism and the desire to become rich and wealthy can be for the Chinese church in the future.” Please continue to pray for the strength and testimony of Chinese church.
