Increasing persecution in Pakistan can’t stop evangelism. Pakistan (MNN)–Topping the news, human rights groups say persecution of Christians in Pakistan is on the rise. Recent terror attacks against believers in Pakistan have mission agencies concerned about the security issues. Evangelist Sammy Tippit[1] says despite that, a meeting, using their new digital evangelist system, brought encouraging results. “There are a number of Christian churches in Pakistan that are trying to reach out and share the Gospel with people. We had, in Pakistan, 400 people attend, in one village, an evangelistic meeting with me preaching in the Pakistani context. We had 57 people who came to know Christ as Lord and Savior.” Tippit says their team of national church leaders is effective because they can read the safety issues more clearly. He urges prayer for their wisdom. “When they do go into hostile areas, they’ve got to know who the right people are. They’ve got to have the right contacts, or it can be something very dangerous, because where they set this up, and when they set it up is very critical.” Full Story: http://mnn.gospelcom.net/article/5426

Gun fire kills a pastor in India. India (MNN) — Next, a church celebration turned deadly in Assam, India. Kukki militants barged in and fired shots, killing five people including Gospel for Asia native missionary Samuel. GFA is asking people to pray for his wife and three children. This incident follows another tragedy that claimed the lives of students in the same region last month. Despite the problems, God is working among the Kukki and Karbi tribes. GFA has planted 85 churches and 30 fellowships among the Karbi people and five churches have been established with the Kukis. Full Story: http://mnn.gospelcom.net/article/5430

The plight of children the focus on ministry and the government. Russia (MNN) — The plight of children continues to concern government leaders in Russia. The problems facing young people are also a concern to Christians abroad. Anita Deyneka with Russian Ministries[2] outlines some of the problems. “Russian President Putin has made the statement that he’s placing the condition of Russian children as the national catastrophe and social priority number one of the country. At the moment deaths are exceeding births, abortions are higher than any industrialized country. The rate of AIDS is doubling there each year, and there are at least 2 million orphans and street children.” Russian ministries is combating this with gifts to children as part of a Christian coalition. “Our groups is going to be up north in areas where there are unreached people groups like the Khanti and the Nentsi. It’s just been amazing to us how communities are reached through children and we’ve seen the greatest church growth as a result of our children’s ministries.” Mission Network News’ Greg Yoder will be traveling with them next month. A mission agency launches a project for the Hispanic community. USA (MNN)–Next, the biggest minority group in the United States is about to get a boost toward evangelistic ministry. Bible Pathway’s[4] Karen Hawkins says they’re targeting Hispanics with a new project sent to print this week. She adds, its distribution will blow open the doors for outreach. “That’s the Spanish translation for Bible Pathway. We’ve been out of print for about two years and we’re so excited because this is just going to be the best book we’ve ever done. The Hispanic community is now the largest minority in the United States. There are 38.8 million.” Hawkins the Bible Pathway serves as an excellent discipleship tool for churches with ministries to the Hispanic community. “This new one, we’re hoping, will also be brought into churches here in the United States, because there’s an extremely fast-growing population here that speaks Spanish.” The Bible Pathway takes the reader through the Bible in one year, reading just 15 minutes a day. A radio broadcast features worldwide missions work. USA (MNN)–And, a radio broadcast this month will feature the strength of God’s work around the world through the Southern Baptist International Mission Board[5] workers. Listeners in 13 states can tune in to hear IMB leaders give a brief update on what’s happening on the evangelistic front. Church growth is accelerating through the hundreds of missionaries working with nearly 15-hundred people groups. The program airs Tuesday, December 16th at 2pm on the Bott Radio Network.
