Christians are targeted in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka (MNN)–We begin today in Sri Lanka, where the Christian population is under constant attacks of the Buddhist majority community in different provinces. Voice of the Martyrs'[1] Todd Nettleton says in the last three weeks, there have been at least a dozen violent incidents targeting believers. He explains that while their constitution guarantees a freedom of religion, “It seems that the Buddhist leadership are very concerned to see Buddhist people choose to follow Jesus Christ. That seems to be what is causing it (persecution). There even has been some talk of an anti-conversion law, similar to what we’re seeing in some of the states of India.” Nettleton says their contacts will continue to minister throughout the country. “I think we can pray that God would sustain the Christians there, that he would give them courage and boldness to share their faith. Christmas spells EVANGELISM for one ministry USA (MNN) — Next, Evangecube Global Ministries[2] is encouraging believers to use the Christmas holiday to share the Gospel. The Evangecube is a seven-panel cube that simply tells the story of Christ in pictures. One-point-five million Evangecubes are now equipping believers to do just that. Evangecube’s Jeff Sheets. “If someone has an Evangecube with them a lot of times we’ll see people proactively just ask, ‘now, what is that?’ And, you can tell the story that, ‘this Evangecube simply and clearly tells the story of Jesus, many I share that with you?’ And, then it goes through seven panels.” Sheets says Christmas and other religious holidays are big for this type of outreach. “There’s a sensitivity, even for those that have not placed their faith in Christ. There’s a sensitivity and an awareness that there is something deeper in life that I have not touched on yet. Doctors may be the key to the unreached in Nigeria. Nigeria (MNN) — Medical personnel are finding that they’re sharing the Gospel effectively in Nigeria. The Bridge International[3] is supporting Doctor Deli Boyo, a Nigerian medical doctor, who’s trying to disciple medical professionals. The goal is to encourage these people to go to unreached people groups with the Gospel within their country. Internet evangelism is seeing a great response. International (MNN) — Meanwhile, the internet is being used in evangelism and discipleship to lead many to Christ. Truth Media is a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ[4] Canada. Truth Media’s Dennis Fierbach (feer-bahk) describes their outreach. “Truth Media is an internet that’s dedicated to help people come to know God in a personal way through the medium of the internet and then helping them grow in their faith through discipleship sites. Our goal is to impact people around the world by using the medium of the internet and using the tools of the internet.” Fierbach says Truth Media has seen many respond. “Well, on an average month we’ll have about 750-thousand people who visit our sites, of those approximately 1,400 people will indicate that they received Christ or have made some kind of significant spiritual decision like rededicating their lives to Christ. New Tribes Mission looks for a plane. Indonesia (MNN)–And, Indonesia is a nation of many islands where overwater flights are common. New Tribes Mission Aviation[5] has spent many hours of research looking for a plane to replace one used for more than 20 years. After much prayer and deliberation, they have decided to refurbish and update a plane that was formerly used in Columbia and has been out of service since May 1997.
