From a netfriend:
I have only been accused of pushing a procreativity line, and I am not a Catholic.
Does anyone honestly believe I am so self-deluded that for twenty years after agreeing on tubal ligation we persist in enjoying each other in a manner that I would seek to condemn with such malice as has been attributed to me? And we will continue as long as we can, even if it takes us all night to do what we used to do all night!.
As parents of four terrific, grown up kids, we can recommend two methods of family planning that don’t work.
We have a Billings baby, as do several contemporaries. But when we had a pill baby we realised that we had choices to make:
We could risk outnumbering the rabbits,
We could spend the rest of our lives writing affectionate notes to each other,
We could make a clear and loving decision to opt for the ligation procedure. Thank God for sex, because it helps us to explore his image and likeness within us in a way that the most accurate, analytical words never could. Mutual creativity is at its heart – I repeat – with or without children resulting. It’s an entry into God’s grace, trust and pleasure in us.
And what’s even more exciting is that with no male or female distinctions in heaven, God has something even better up his sleeve!!!!!!!
Which reminds me of two stories.
When loud wailing began emanating from one of heaven’s mansions, the angel police rocked rapidly up to the door to investigate this strange, new noise. They went in and found a found a former priest, weeping with his bible open at the psalms.
“What’s the matter?” they asked.
“I’ve just noticed that it says: ‘Celebrate, not celibate!”>
A priest and a rabbi were attending a civic buffet supper. When the priest offered his friend some grilled pork savouries, the rabbi respectfully declined, saying that it was forbidden for him. When the priest asked if he had ever tried pork, the rabbi said he once had, but then asked the priest if he had ever had sex. The priest admitted that he had once, many years earlier.
And the rabbi replied: “Don’t you think it’s a lot better than pork?”
