Violence in Haiti delays an evangelistic radio ministry. Haiti (MNN)–Topping the news, Haiti’s government is meeting violence with violence in the third week of uprising. Both the political opposition and rebels in Haiti accuse the president of corruption and are demanding his ouster. Men For Mission’s[1] Bill Evans says the unrest is interfering with their newest expansion. “We were in the process of trying to erect a tower down in the Jeremie area, and that has caused us to delay that. We don’t want our missionaries trying to drive equipment down through the Gonaives, St. Marc, Port-au-Prince areas with the safety concerns that we would have.” Men For Missions launched ‘Operation Saturation’, solar power radio distribution. They’re fix-tuned to Radio 4VEH, broadcasting the Gospel. Humanitiarian disaster looms in Congo; Christians move to meet needs in the name of Christ. Congo-Kinshasa (MNN)–Next, up to four million people are on the move in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They are refugees fleeing sporadic fighting in the days following civil war, but have nowhere to go. The areas bordering Angola and Zambia have the largest concentration of refugees. Food is scarce, resulting in increasing mortality and malnutrition rates. World Vision[2] is distributing seeds and tools to prevent further starvation. A fire allows a local church to minister in their community. Bangladesh (MNN)–An ABWE-supported[3] work in Bangladesh is seeing great fruit. The national pastor and his church are providing valuable relief for over 300 homeless victims of a fire in their area. Very few material possessions were saved between looters and the fire itself, but no lives were lost in the blaze earlier this month. The believers are available to talk, pray and offer hope to the needy as they give physical aid. Pray that they will be able to extend the kind of love and comfort that only God can give. JAARS needs planes to help with Bible translation International (MNN) — Meanwhile, Bible translation workers are thanking God for His blessing on their work in 2003. According to JAARS[4] , an organization that speeds Bible translation by providing quality service for Wycliffe Bible Translators and others, is excited about the progress. JAARS Arthur Lightbody. “With Wycliffe Bible Translators, and JAARS assisting, we were able to see 24 different languages receive a New Testament. We have been entering languages within the last few years and now 2,737 languages need to be entered. So, we’re seeing progress in that area.” But, in order to provide Scripture in even more languages they need airplanes east Asia and Papua New Guinea. “These planes are needed today because of the great distance and the fact that the infrastructure of roads is still underdeveloped in these nations. We need it for bringing translators out to locations where they’re actually living. (BROOKS :02 ) The goal is to raise three-point-four million dollars this year. New web site for those viewing “The Passion of the Christ” WORLD-A new web site has been developed to coincide with the soon-to-be-released film “The Passion of the Christ.” Truth Media is a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ Canada and they have established a web site specifically designed for those who will view the film and may have questions. “What we would like to do is to help the person who maybe doesn’t totally understand all the things that have gone on in the movie because they may not be that familiar with the scriptures to have a better understanding. There will also be the opportunity for them through three different kinds of presentations to understand how they can personally come to know God.” Those that log into “thelife.com” will find a number of features. “It’ll have articles about the movie, an opportunity for people to e-mail us questions, for them to participate in a chat, to put their thoughts on a discussion board.
