The Gospel is shining brightly in the Middle East, despite clouds of violence Israel (MNN) — We begin today in Israel as suicide bombers struck again in the port city of Ashdod over the weekend. However, the violence isn’t stopping the spread of the Gospel into the Holy Land. Joshua Youssef of Leading the Way[1] says they’re broadcasting dual language Christian programming into the region. He says it’s attracting listeners. “People are drawn to Christian media, to the word of God, especially in this time of real conflict. They want to know what Christians believe. They want to know about the Christian faith and the word of God.” As violence in Israel doesn’t appear to be easing, Christians in Israel are clearly looking for spiritual answers. “It is our hope that they contact us for Bibles and material and literature. And, we work with local partners on the ground, such as the Bible society (to) get literature to them and that is our hope, that our radio programs would drive them to the word of God.” Funding is needed to help pay for air time. Believers stand ready to assist in riot-torn Haiti. Haiti (MNN)–Elsewhere, For Haiti With Love[2] is preparing for the worst. Eva DeHart says their clinic has been inundated by people who have fallen victim to the senseless violence that erupted after Jean-Bertrand Aristide planned a return to the Caribbean. “They come in with all of these injuries. A lot of them are even above our capabilities at the clinic, because you’ve got fractured skulls and things that we just can’t deal with. But, the Cap-Haitien Hospital can’t deal with them either, and they keep sending patients to us. So, we pray a lot and we do what we can.” DeHart says her husband, Don, is flying home today. He intends on re-supplying and returning to Haiti immediately. Prayer is a key part of ministry right now. “We really want people to know that the United States hasn’t sent any troops to the north. Port au Prince is the only place in the country that has any kind of help right now. Email communications can put missionaries in danger International (MNN) — The Internet has changed the way missionaries and supporters are communicating today. In most cases e-mail has helped facilitate a great relationship, and has even fostered short-term mission trips as churches feel more connected. However, e-mail can cause some problems, says OC International’s[3] David Daum. “In restricted access countries where they really don’t want any type of missionary work to be going on, it’s a very sensitive issue to have e-mail flowing back and forth with Christian information in (it). It can get missionaries kicked out of the country, it can get nationals put in jail or even worse, sometimes.” Daum has some advice for those who are emailing missionaries overseas. “Refrain from going into a lot of detail and using a lot of Christian or divisive words. Plans move forward with tools for church leaders in Iran. Iran (MNN)–Next, Sammy Tippit Ministries[4] reports that the reprinting of The Prayer Factor book in Farsi is going smoothly. The book will be both a tool and a blessing for the Iranian recipients. Pray for the people who are reprinting it and for those who will be using it to encourage and minister around the world. Pray too, that the lessons will encourage and teach those who use them. Sammy Tippit Ministries is readying the launch of a Persian world digital teaching series. A new teaching approach to Sunday School in the Congo sees success. Congo-Kinshasa (MNN)–And, African Sunday schools in the Democratic Republic of Congo are excited about a new teaching method developed by Every Child Ministries.[5] The method is like expository preaching, but it is active, involving the students. The sequence—Read, Question, Act, Sing—is repeated for each section—three to five times in a Bible lesson.
