Covenants

From a netfriend:

The church of which I was a member prior to migrating from the UK 30 years ago, had the following:

I am no longer my own, but Yours. Put me to what You will, rank me with whom You will; put me to doing, put me to suffering; let me be employed for You or laid aside for You; let me be full, let me be empty; let me have all things, let me have nothing; I freely and enitrely yield all things to Your pleasure and disposal.

And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, You are mine and I am yours. So be it. And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven.

I discover this at http://www.warwick.ac.uk/chaplaincy/sermons/sermon250104_coven ent_prayers.ht ml to be John Wesley’s although at the time I didn’t know that.

It was said by all church members together at a solemn service at the beginning of the new year, and impacted greatly the way we were committed to each other, as well as to how life was faced as an individual.

I always found it a very significant time and I am sure added to the way the church functioned in many areas.
