The Value Of Children

From a friend:

One of the most moving experiences I have had about this was in early 2003 in Hyde Park, Sydney.

Our family was waiting for enough people to move out so that we could join the march in protest about getting involved in Iraq.

While waiting we were entertained by songs over the PA system. I’ve forgotten all of them except for two lines:

I want a world where children are taught

that one Iraqi child is worth a US astronaut.

These lines were so loudly cheered by the crowd that the next few lines were inaudible.
