Learning to Pray the right way…

A little boy heard in Sunday school that if you prayed real hard to Jesus he would answer your prayers.

So, the night before the recent US election he prayed “Lord Jesus, I really don’t want George Bush Jr. to win. Amen.”

The next morning he woke up at 6 am, stayed home from school and watched the returns all day. The popular vote had swung in the wrong direction and there was only a slim chance of a recount.

That night he prayed “Lord Jesus, I really really don’t want President Bush to win, please change the results. Amen.”

The next morning he raced downstairs turned on the TV and watched the news. President Bush was officially elected.

That night, after a very disappointing day he ran upstairs to the attic, tossed aside the boxes until he found the Christmas decorations. He threw lights and decorations on the floor until he found the nativity scene and took out the statue of Mary. He wrapped it in plastic, sealed it with duct tape, wrapped it in paper and cardboard, put it in a box, hid it in an old bureau and leaned an old mattress on top of it.

That night he prayed: “Lord Jesus, if you ever want to see your mother again…”
