Middle East comment

From a netfriend:

You might be interested in the comment of one of my friends… or rather to be accurate, one of my friends’ brothers. My friend is Jewish by birth and agnostic in practice, his brother is radically orthodox. It’s not word for word but I’ll put it in quotes even so:

“The fight between Israel and the Palestinians is all about real estate. God doesn’t enter into it. The core of the Jewish religion is hospitality. If Israel cared about what it means to be Jewish, then providing hospitality to the Palestinians as well as to returning Jews would be a national priority. When did you last hear the issue even raised? But the Palestinians are no better. The core of Islam is the defence of the helpless and the innocent. That’s why it’s so hard to get any support for abortion in Islamic countries. When did you last hear a moderate Moslem even admit to knowing that? The Moslems are disgracing their God just as surely as we are disgracing ours. On both sides they are all accessories to blatant, murderous, secular lust for land, and also accessories to the worse crime of blaming a God in which they put no practical trust for their murders.”
