Only last night I was talking to an atheist who had just had a number of skin cancers removed. We got onto the subject of mutations, and knowing I was a Christian who rejects the recent “intelligent design” movement as just another creationist ploy, he said “Any half-competent designer should be able to come up with a self-correcting genetic code so that we humans don’t suffer cancer and all the other things (like AIDS) which arise from changes in our genes. After all, computer scientists are well aware of these, and surely a supernatural designer could do better.”

It’s not really a matter of what God is capable of, it’s what he actually did.

And being clever enough to design the processes of evolution to create the vast range of organisms on this planet isn’t something to be dismissed lightly.
