Male Genital Mutilation – The Latest

Six Australasian medical bodies have just issued a joint policy statement on routine male infant circumcision. The new policy states: “there is no medical indication for routine male circumcision.”

The six bodies are:

a.. Paediatrics & Child Health Division of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians

b.. Australasian Association of Paediatric Surgeons

c.. New Zealand Society of Paediatric Surgeons

d.. Urological Society of Australasia

e.. Royal Australasian College of Surgeons

f.. Paediatric Society of New Zealand

Clearly, surgical amputations of part of a male’s sexual organ are not justified medically and therefore should be considered child sexual assault.

In New Zealand, the Children’s Commissioner has called upon the Government to make routine circumcision of male infants illegal. See here:
