It’s not a matter of underestimating what God could do (create everything in 6 days), as of what he actually did do.
It’s perfectly possible that God created the whole universe in six days, and did it so carefully that he concealed all the evidence, and littered his creation with vast numbers of clues indicating that it had been created between 12,000 million and 15,000 million years ago.
And also concealed the fact that the earth was created only a few thousand years ago, and put in lots of clues indicating that it came into existence 4,500 million years ago.
I’ll let some of the experts on biology talk about all the evidence that organisms have evolved from a common ancestor.
Or you could read the first few pages of Michael Behe’s “Darwin’s Black Box” (regularly cited by those who believe in “intelligent design”), where he states that he accepts both the age of the earth and the universe found by science, and also accepts that all living organisms have a common ancestor.
