Newsgroup cryptic quiz

(For regulars on alt.christnet.christianlife,alt.christnet.evangelical, aus.religion.christian newsgroups)

(Been watching the Australian Open and had too much time to think 🙂

They say Liberals laugh too much, Fundamentalists too little…

Not sure about that

I *am* sure that if we can’t laugh at ourselves a little, we’ve got serious problems…

Now… I’m not suggesting you publish names associated with these quotes/clues, (though some may not be able to resist that temptation:-) but can you suggest some more?

~~~
* Ratio of humor-to-anger is tipping towards the former
* Hurt people hurt people
* I want you to show yours but I’m not gonna show you mine
* Jealousy of clergy’s influence/authority/learning so pseudo’d one
* Ditto so forayed into hijacking
* Clergy used to being treated deferentially, so couldn’t easily cope when wasn’t
~~~

* ‘Ahhhhh sweet Lucy, your mouth is honeyed but your blood’s damn vinegared’

* ‘A little sincerity is a dangerous thing, and a great deal of it is absolutely fatal’

* ‘Always forgive your enemies: nothing annoys them so much’

* ‘How clever you are my dear; you never mean a single word you say’

* ‘Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go’

* ‘The truth is never pure and rarely simple; modern life would be very tedious if it were either’

* ‘The proud contradict other people; the wise contradict themselves’

* Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation’

* ‘Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity’

* ‘The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure, and the intelligent are full of doubt’

* ‘Best to shut your mouth and be thought stupid, than open it and remove all doubt’

Oh that’s ’nuff: Yours?
