Schools help impart religious knowledge, UK survey finds

London (ENI). For some 12-year-olds in Britain, Jesus performed one miracle too few: they wondered why he did not “fly like Superman”. The finding emerged when Exeter University researchers asked more than 500 youngsters in this age-group about their religious knowledge. More than half (54 per cent) did not know that Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus – and 6 per cent were unsure whether he existed at all. [412 words, ENI-03-0004]
