I only mentioned cosmology in passing in my post of May 2, but since you have in interest in it and you seem to be keen to avoid engaging the major biblical issues, I can understand why you are keen to get off the Bible and onto cosmology. Well, the topic is “How are we meant to understand Genesis?” I am involved with a Christian ministry called Answers in Genesis; not ‘answers in science’. No one should be here under the false pretence that I am here to ‘prove the Bible using science’. I see the Bible as the authority when it comes to history, not science. I explained this in my first post.

And, as Rowland suggested, it’s about time that we got on to how Answers in Genesis manages to relate their reading of Genesis to the scientific culture in which we live.

For make no mistake about it, I have counselled a number of very confused students who have arrived at University expecting to find that the creastionism they heard preached on Sundays would be backed by lecturers, since AiG makes so many claims about “large numbers of scientists turning to creation as the best explanation”.

However it’s obviously not practical to try responding online to a post 905 lines long.

I’ll take it away and see what I can do – but it’s unlikely that I’ll have time to do much between now and Thursday. Some of us do have other things to do, you know, like helping Christian students come to terms with life in a secular society.
