Creation and evolution

just one comment here. In common with many non-scientists you have a basic misunderstanding of science. You can NEVER prove a scientific theory, only disprove it. Of course genetics does not prove evolution, but it could disprove it, although so far it has not done so despite many thousands of scientists trying to do just this (not just creationists!). Evolution as a theory has withstood all tests so far applied to it and it remains a good working hypothesis. Creationism, on the other hand, has not had this same success and has required continual major revision to try and fit the facts as they have been uncovered. Neither can be said to be right or wrong, but one is more useful to the working scientist. (If you want an interesting parallel, look at the history of the theory of continental drift. For many years this theory was the subject of ridicule by the geological establishment much like creationism, but then the tables suddenly turned and it is now almost universally accepted. Ask the question – why did this happen!)

Personally I see no value in looking at the AIG site. Anyone who chooses to read Genesis in a good translation (eg NRSV) and have a reasonable commentary available can easily make up their own mind as to what it is trying to say. (An understanding of the history of the Near East helps too! Have you read the Gilgamesh Epic?)
