Tropical troubles

One of the jungle’s hardest workers was the gorilla, who was normally very upbeat about all the carpentry he did around the place. But one day he was seen to be dragging his knuckles along the ground more heavily than usual.

“What’s the matter?” asked the zebra.

“I’ve lost my most important tool,” replied the gorilla.

“What does it look like?” asked the zebra .

“It’s about twenty five centimetres long and it’s got four points at one end,” the gorilla explained.

“I haven’t seen it,” replied the zebra, “but I’ll help you look.”

Several other animals, on finding out why the gorilla was so sad, also volunteered to join the search, because they appreciated all the hard work he’d done for them over the years.

Until they came across a very contented looking jaguar.

“Why are you all so busy?” he asked them. They explained that they were looking for the tool that the gorilla has misplaced, about twenty five centimetres long with four points at one end.

“Oh, that one!” he exclaimed. “I ate it!”

“Whatever for?” they demanded.

“Why are you surprised?” he answered. “Don’t you all know that I’m a 4.2 litre Jaguar???”

And poor old Tarzan has also had a rough day, and he is so glad to have finally swung up to his front door. “Oooh, Jane” he moans, collapsing into an armchair, “it’s a jungle out there! What is there to eat?”

Going over to the stove he lifts the lid from one pot, to see it filled with a mass of steaming finches. Inside the second, much larger pot he sees three small monkeys roasting.

“Oh, no!” he moans: “not finch and chimps again!”
