From a netfriend:
{I didn’t hear the original sermon, nor the interview with Phillip Jensen on 702 [the local ABC station] yesterday. My husband did hear the latter, and had a very different response from mine to the comments on 702 following the interview.}
As I see it, Jensen’s theology doesn’t recognise that God is at work in the world beyond certain churches or ‘Christianity’ as he sees it, nor that Satan is at work within churches as well as in the world at large.
I believe that the greatest damage that Satan wreaks on the church is done by trying to convince Christians that all beliefs are equally valid, and that we don’t have something [Someone] unique to offer the rest of the world….
…which sounds very much like what the Jensens maintain, except that to proclaim this gospel without the humility to accept that other people and cultures mightn’t have something to teach us by way of a different perspective from our own, can quite understandably be seen as arrogance, and is thus ‘unhelpful’.
At the same time, I don’t think we should ‘cringe’. I have met Keyser Trad [mentioned in the article], and I’m familiar with his website, and so I can report that he is not loathe to proclaim the superiority of Islam.
To prayerfully and lovingly proclaim the Truth is surely our mission,
Peace and Joy,
