Small and Large Churches

From a friend:

. Jesus expects us to be fruitful as well as faithful.

Using Paul Borden’s profiles of various church dynamics:

A small church of up to 200 members is like an apple: a central core surrounded by flesh of very similar texture, density and appearance.

a larger church from 200 to 750 members is like an orange, with identifiable sections that reflect a variety of ministries and/or auxiliaries that cater to needs within or beyond the church.

he described larger churches beyond 750 members as larger oranges, but I tend to see these as like grapes – with clusters of individual fruit that all connect with the Vine yet have different sizes or shapes. I tender this because grape vines are easily identifiable, but no two are identical.
