In 1985 a colleague, Martin Bridgstock from Griffith University and I were asked to put together a book outlining scientific objections to creationism, following a meeting at the University of Queensland. It appeared under the title “Creationism: An Australian Perspective”. It’s now out of print, but a CD with a slightly revised version of the book is available from the Australian Skeptics.

One section of the book was headed “Strange Remarks by Creationists”, where we collected only a few of the quite bizarre comments we had read while preparing the book. We cited these, most of which spoke for themselves about the idiocy of creationism, but in some cases we added an editorial comment. One of them was a statement about evolution as the root of all sorts of evil. Here it is:

`. . . this monkey mythology of Darwin is the cause of permissiveness, promiscuity, pills, prophylactics, perversions, pregnancies, abortions, pornotherapy, pollution, poisoning and proliferation of crimes of all types.’
