Mercy

Is this a (contrived) theological or a theatrical point?

Two kangaroo shooters broke down in the outback, and followed the rule of staying with their vehicle. But after three weeks of waiting their rations were a bit low, so they drained the radiator into a few bottles and set off in search of help. > Three days later their water was gone and they were desperate in the baking heat. After dark they made for a light in the distance and found themselves in the yard of the apparently deserted Sisters of Mercy District Medical Centre.

Bursting into the room with the light on, they found themselves in the office of the matron, a very stern-looking nun who was most upset at their invasion. Though she quickly realised how desperate they were, she had to apologise that with the cook having finished for the day, she could only offer them a drink of koala tea.

“Sister, we’ll accept anything, we’re so thirsty!” was their response. So off she went, coming back with a big tea pot which had no lid. They were taken aback by the sight of bits of fluffy ears and paws floating on top of the liquid, and began to protest: “Sister, couldn’t you just strain it a bit?”

She drew herself up to her full height and indignantly replied: “Gentlemen, the koala tea of Mercy is never strained!”
