The Three Explorers.

One day three men were out hiking in a new country, and suddenly came onto the banks of a wide, raging river. They needed to get to the other side, but had no ideas of how to achieve this.

The first man fell on his knees and prayed “Give me the strength to cross the river safely.” Poof! He was granted strong legs and arms and the stamina to swim across the river, which he did in about two hours, though he nearly drowned from exhaustion.

The second man was impressed, but modified his prayer to “Please give me the strength and the tools to cross this river!” Poof! And he was granted the strength needed and a rowboat. Though he nearly overturned several times, he too crossed safely.

The third man, having seen how this worked for the others, prayed “Give me the strength, tools and intelligence to cross this river safely.”

There was a flash of light, and the man was transformed into a woman. She opened her rucksack, consulted her map, walked 200 yards round the bend in the river and then walked across the bridge.
