“We accept there is a reality of sin in the world but there is also the presence of God the Holy Spirit. And the Spirit blows where he wills. We cannot restrict the Spirit simply to the walls of the Church. The Spirit is present throughout the created order, everywhere present and filling all things, as we say in the prayer, ‘Heavenly King.’ And so in this fallen world there is also good. The presence of the Spirit comes in many anonymous forms, and it may even inform the writings of those who see themselves as atheists. We are not to view things simply in terms of black and white.”
