A haircut . ========================== . After taking a tour of a winery in New Jersey, our group waited patiently to get to the wine-tasting counter. That was not easy, since a man ahead of us was hogging all the samples as well as the attention of the salesperson.

Finally it seemed that he was winding down, as he asked the salesperson, “What should I take back to my snobby friends in California?” That’s when my wife said, “How about the bus?” . ========================== . My sister landed a good job with an accounting firm, and after a while she got a generous raise. The day she found out about it, her husband picked her up from work, and they stopped for ice cream.

As they continued home, my sister blurted out, “Isn’t it hard to believe that I have a job that pays this much money?”

Just then, she went to toss the last of her ice cream cone out the window. However, the window was closed, and it smacked against the glass.

Her husband replied calmly, “Yes.” . ========================== . One evening while I was preparing dinner, my daughter came into the kitchen asking for homework help on her vocabulary words. “Mom,” she asked, “what’s a quarter horse?”

As I thought of a simple explanation, my five-year-old son piped up, “I know! It’s the one they have in front of the grocery store.” . ========================== . When the new patient was settled comfortably on the couch, the psychiatrist began his therapy session. “I’m not aware of your problem,” the doctor said. “So perhaps, you should start at the very beginning.” “Of course.” replied the patient. “In the beginning, I created the Heavens and the Earth…” . ========================== . A dietician was once addressing a large audience in Chicago. “The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago. Red meat is awful. Soft drinks erode your stomach lining. Chinese food is loaded with MSG…”.

“Vegetables can be disastrous, and none of us realizes the long-term harm caused by the germs in our drinking water. But there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all and we all have had or will have it one fine day. Can anyone tell me what food is it that causes prolonged pain and suffering for years after eating it?”

A 75-year-old man in the front row stood up and quipped,

“The wedding cake.”
