Pastor’s question:
I am leading a memorial service for a student who died a few weeks ago in a car accident. The other students are wanting to do “something symbolic” at the end and I have a feeling that something on a rainbow theme might work. Anyone got any bright ideas about how one might get a potentially large-ish group of people to “make” a rainbow in an outdoor setting?
Ideas:
For a large enough group and time to organise how about a person rainbow getting people to wear the appropriate colours.
A smaller group with less time, provide bags of coloured sand (or paper ribbons) and have people pour it out in a specified area and pattern.
Did one where we provided paint pens and had people record messages on the coffin, upset the lovely veneer and was a little chaotic having people come forward to do the writing but was an appropriate expression for this person. Maybe something on a plastic sheet bluetacked to a wall?
