Re atheism and agnosticism:

In terms of personal experience, I’m *certain* about some things (I exist, my wife loves me)

I’m *agnostic* about some things (like the theological idea of universalism)

I’m *ignorant* about other stuff (in the sense of not-knowing at all), like why would the three or four regular atheistic friends (yes, friends, why not?) expend more writing-energy and time on this group than most of us evangelical Christians…

I reckon the words ‘belief’, ‘knowing’, etc. also must be used with various ‘riders/qualifiers’ – there are different sorts of knowing. Eg, I believe in God’s existence, and I believe in my wife’s existence but use different criteria for making these two judgments… There’s rationalism and suprarationalism… (non-respectively 🙂
