Jewish Humour

From a friend:

As a devotee of Jewish humour I recommend Robin Williams’ movie “Jakob the Liar,” which is set in the Warsaw Ghetto in World War Two. It begins with a story voiced over the opening credits…

The war was not going well for Hitler, so he went to see a fortune teller and asked her: “How long do I have to live?” She replied: “You will die on a Jewish holiday.” Hitler protested: “But there are so many Jewish holidays. How can I know for certain?” The fortune teller quietly tried to reassure him: “Any day you die will be a Jewish holiday!”

This story replaced the director’s original choice of the one about two Jews who hatched a plot to kill Hitler, since they noticed that he regularly passed the same building at the same time each day. Their confidence grew as they sharpened their plan, watching his regimented schedule over three weeks. But one day he did not pass the building. “Oh,” said one of them. “I hope nothing bad has happened to Hitler!”
