Questions about healing

A friend wrote: My wife has cancer.

Is anointing with oil and praying to heal someone valid today (James 5:14-15)?

My response:

Yes… Friend: Assuming it is valid should she stop chemo treatments and rely on the elders anointing her with oil and praying for healing?

Me: No… God uses many means to heal… the more (reputable) means working together the better… Friend: If both is done and she is healed how do you know which did the healing?

Me: Doesn’t matter: just praise God. Only scientists/researchers need to answer this question! Friend: If anointing is done or both are done and she is not healed does this mean she or the elders or both did not have sufficient faith?

Me: Not necessarily: and we don’t want to add guilt to the sickness! Friend: Your timely response appreciated. Thanks

Me (answered within a few minutes): Timely enough? I just paused to pray for you!
