I’d be very wary of taking as Gospel truth anything written by a creationist about the Scopes trial.

There was nothing about science presented as evidence: the presiding judge ruled that Scopes was on trial for breaking the law, and that any scientific evidence that the law was wrong or misguided would not be admitted.
