Evangelism & Discipleship

-It’s time to go full cycle by Ian Malins

“Discipleship sums up Christ’s plan for the world. Yet for all its brilliant simplicity, it is the one approach that most western churches have neglected.” – David Watson

The crisis of today’s church is that many have become believers but so few have gone on to become devoted and dependable disciples of Jesus Christ, and even fewer have gone on to become disciple-makers. Becoming a Christian is only the start. Going on to maturity and becoming a true disciple and then a disciple-maker is all the rest. Omega Discipleship Ministries has been raised up for just this purpose – to help take believers full cycle by joining evangelism and discipleship into an ongoing process of transformation and change. We have developed a training cycle to help turn “seekers” into believers, believers into disciples, and disciples into disciple-makers.

A cyclical training series

Omega’s resources are unique in providing a series of training manuals that are simple to use, cyclical in nature, and comprehensive in scope. This is not just another Bible study series. It is an intentional process of taking believers on a journey in discipleship so that they can be transformed into true disciples, and then trained to make disciples of others so that they can take their part in fulfilling the “Great Commission”.

1.For “seekers”

The Omega series starts with an evangelistic tool – “Come to Me”. This book just released is beautifully presented in full color with special feature articles, color images, challenging quotations and poems – presenting the compelling call of Christianity, the steps to faith, and how to come into relationship with God. It is an ideal tool for Christians to use in witnessing with non-Christian friends or “seekers”.

2.For new Christians

This follows on to the next stage: a manual for new Christians designed to help establish them in the essentials of the Christian faith. Some churches give a few basic lessons here (some don’t even do that!), but few churches go beyond a basic discipling for new converts. They let them go too soon and hope they will continue to grow automatically through church services, home-groups, and involvement in church ministries. But as Willow Creek has sadly discovered after 30 years of working this way, most Christians only grow so far and then plateau out in their growth. Something more intentional is needed with a more comprehensive ongoing discipleship.

3.For growing disciples

The Omega series takes new Christians on to the next phase of growing and maturing them into strong disciples. This part of the cycle is based on the “Come Follow Me” series of 3 manuals. These simple training tools help build principles of spiritual growth into their lives over a period of at least a year, teaching them how to “obey what Jesus has commanded” rather than just knowing without doing.

4.For training disciplers

The final part of the cycle is to train disciples to become disciplers so as to fulfill the Great Commission. This final training manual: “Go & Make Disciples”, together with a “Leaders Manual” shows them how to become active in life-style evangelism, discipling, mentoring, and world mission, and how to go back to the start of the cycle to take others with them on the same journey. In this way they become part of a multiplying life cycle.

It’s time to go full cycle!

Omega Discipleship Ministries has prepared simple training tools to help you go full cycle – turning seekers into believers, believers into disciples, and disciples into disciple-makers. Don’t just hope this will happen automatically in your church (it usually doesn’t!) Put an intentional discipleship training program into action. Do what Jesus is calling you to do : reach out in evangelism, yes, but also make disciples! We have resources to help you do just that.

Pastors comments on these materials . . .

“As a pastor, it is my job to equip the saints for works of service, and through the use of Omega Discipleship materials, more equipping occurred last year than in the entire history of our fellowship. My hands have been multiplied, and we look forward to the fast-approaching multiplication of disciple makers.” -Pastor Randy Spurlock, The Orchard Church, Ohio, USA

“I am so thankful I found your ministry on the internet. Your materials on discipleship are “THE BEST” I have found anywhere. I’ve looked for years in the US for Discipleship training material and could not find what I liked. Yours is top notch. Thank you for your marvelous resources.” -Pastor David Reynolds, United Methodist Church, Illinois, USA

“These books are excellent tools in disciple-making. The material is clear and biblical yet simply presented. I recommend you try this material in your church. The best I’ve seen!” -Pastor John Lewis, former State Super of AOG, Brisbane, AUSTRALIA
