Why Pentecostalism is the World’s Fastest Growing Faith

Signs and Wonders: Why Pentecostalism Is the World’s Fastest Growing Faith by Paul Alexander

Combining personal stories and sound scholarship, Paul Alexander, a young scholar with a Pentecostal background, examines the phenomenal worldwide success of Pentecostalism. While brought up a Pentecostal, the author studied under John Howard Yoder and Stanley Hauerwas. On a journey thru extreme doubts and a period as an “atheist christian” he eventually found his way back to a real faith, and founded a group called “Pentecostals and Charismatics for Peace and Justice.”

He critiques Pentecostalism but comes down in defence of it. As a serious social justice campaigner, he concludes that “Liberation theology opted for the poor, but the poor opted for Pentecostalism.”

In the foreword, Martin Marty endorses it and even the old campaigner Harvey Cox says it answers his questions.
