Is not "high self-esteem" a post-modernistic way of saying "selfishness"? I
often hear that having a high self-esteem will allow you to live a healthy,
happy life. You’ve probably heard this fallacy yourself. Having a high
self-esteem is more likely to inflate your pride, only making your life
worse. The best way to be happy is to be humble. People will like you more,
and you’ll not feel a need to boost your own ego. Pride is the cause of all
kinds of heartache.
Defy the media, rebel against conventional thinking, be an original. Here
are some simple tips that could really change your life.
– Be the first to apologise, whether or not you’re wrong.
– Overlook an insult.
– Ignore a challenge for conflict.
– When your will comes in conflict with another person’s, instead of
fighting at full force to get your way, use your brain to find a solution
that will make you both happy. If there’s no apparent solution, make some
compromises–even if you’re the only one making them.
