What’s happening to our children?
Our back balcony overlooks a Primary Schoolyard (kids aged 5-about 12).
The other day I watched a group of two girls and four boys – about 9/10/11 years old – flirting. One of the girls was doing a ‘pole dance’ on a verandah pole, obviously masturbating. Then she’d hold her dress out and look down inside. The boys would then chase her, and who knows what they were saying?
Is the mystery of a *healthy* sexual discovery being lost on this generation?
My wife and I thank each other – and God – that in our old-fashioned way we each lost our virginity at the same time – on our wedding-night…
(Which doesn’t mean, of course, that we’re too judgmental of others who’ve taken a different route. I’ve counselled several couples who have not had a sexual relationship – of any kind – for years because of a ‘wedding night disaster’…)
But surely there’s a healthy via media between the puritanism of our forebears, and the prurience of younger generations…
